About People, Places & Things

Duncan Macmillan’s (Lungs, 1984) intoxicating hit play PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS, directed by Jeremy Herrin (Best of Enemies, This House) and designed by Tony Award®-winner Bunny Christie (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time), makes a triumphant return to London this May.

DENISE GOUGH reprises her Olivier Award-winning role as Emma, a struggling actress whose life is spinning recklessly out of control. Gough’s ‘explosive and fearless performance’ (Hollywood Reporter) in PEOPLE, PLACES & THINGS has garnered acclaim in London and New York, with critics hailing her performance as ‘stunning’ (Time Out), ‘ingenious’ (The New York Times) and ‘unmissable’ (Evening Standard).

Emma was having the time of her life. Now she’s in rehab. Her first step is to admit that she has a problem. But the problem isn’t with Emma, it’s with everything else. She needs to tell the truth. But she’s smart enough to know that there’s no such thing. When intoxication feels like the only way to survive the modern world, how can she ever sober up?

Intense, Intelligent, Outstanding lead

See it if you like hard-hitting theater that works on all cylinders, smart script, bolt of energy direction, creative design & exceptional lead actor.

Don’t see it if topics of drug & alcohol abuse are not your thing, or can't take loud music & other sensory-stimulating stage effects. But it's a must-see.

Thought-provoking, Profound, Must see, Intelligent, Great writing

See it if you like an insightful and intellectual drama. Would resonate to those who have disillusioned by reality.

Don’t see it if you are sensory sensitive. There is a long sequence of flashing lights with loud noises. If you are not for a wordy play with sad themes.
