Come Hear The Music Play! Liza Minnelli to Perform Cabaret Songs at London’s Royal Festival Hall

Oscar and Tony winner Liza Minnelli will slip back into a bowler hat to revisit the iconic Kander and Ebb musical Cabaret, according to the Daily Telegraph. Minnelli, who won an Oscar for the musical's 1972 film adaptation, will pay tribute to the tuner at London’s Royal Festival Hall in March 2013, makring her first concert appearance at the venue in 40 years. She will appear as part of a celebration of Cabaret-era Berlin.

At the weekend-long event, titled Southbank Centre’s Berlin in the ‘20s and ‘30s, Minnelli will perform songs from the Oscar and Tony-winning musical live. The festival will also feature a screening of the 1972 film.

Minnelli earned Tony Awards for The Act and Flora the Red Menace. She has also appeared on Broadway in Liza's at the Palace, Minnelli on Minnelli, Victor/Victoria and Chicago. She last appeared at Royal Festival Hall in 1973 with her solo show Liza with a Z.

Based on the book by Christopher Isherwood, Cabaret brings audiences inside the seedy Kit Kat Klub in '30s Berlin. The film, directed by Bob Fossee, starred Minnelli as Sally Bowles and fellow Oscar and Tony winner Joel Grey as the Emcee. In 1995, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry as being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant."
