James Earl Jones & Vanessa Redgrave to Tackle Much Ado About Nothing's Sparring Lovers at the Old Vic

Former Driving Miss Daisy co-stars Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones are reuniting onstage to play sparring lovers Beatrice and Benedick in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing at London's Old Vic Theatre, according to the U.K.'s The Independent

The production will offer a distinctive take on the couple, usually presented as young lovers, as Redgrave is 75 and Jones is 81.The actors, who also appeared together in Driving Miss Daisy's West End run, will be directed by Tony winner Mark Rylance. Previews of Much Ado About Nothing will begin on September 9, 2013, with an official opening set for September 19.

The show is part of the Vic's upcoming season, which also includes a production of Tennessee Williams' Sweet Bird of Youth starring Sex and the City's Kim Cattrall, and a revival of Terence Rattigan's drama The Winslow Boy.

Redgrave earned a Tony Award for Long Day's Journey Into Night and additional nominations for The Year of Magical Thinking and Driving Miss Daisy. She received an Academy Award for Julia and nominations for Howard's End, The Bostonians, Mary, Queen of Scots, Isadora and Morgan!

Jones received Tony Awards for Fences and The Great White Hope, and nominations for On Golden Pond and The Best Man. His other Broadway credits include Othello, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, Of Mice and Men and The Iceman Cometh. His many film roles include Clear and Present Danger, Field of Dreams and The Man.
