Indira Varma, Daniel Lapaine & Kevin R. McNally Will Do The Dance of Death in London

Full casting has been announced for a West End revival of The Dance of Death, August Strindberg’s 1900 play about a marriage gone wrong. Indira Varma, Daniel Lapaine and Kevin R. McNally will appear in Conor McPherson’s (The Seafarer) new adaptation of the play, which begins at Trafalgar Studios on December 13 and runs through January 5, 2013.

The Dance of Death follows the bitter marriage of military captain Edgar (McNally) and Alice (Varma) on an isolated island. When their former friend Kurt (Lapaine) arrives and offers Alice escape and redemption, Edgar vows to make their lives a living hell.

Titas Halder will direct the production, which features design by Richard Kent, lighting by Richard Howell and sound design and original music by Alex Baranowski.

Varma has appeared on stage in Twelfth NightThe Vortex and Privates on Parade. Her film and TV credits include Rome, Bride and Prejudice and Luther. Lapaine appeared in Hedda Gabler at the Old Vic, All My Sons at the Apollo and Scenes from the Back of Beyond at the Royal Court. He will appear in the upcoming Jessica Chastain-led movie Zero Dark Thirty. McNally’s theater resume includes Hamlet, Ivanov and World Music, as well as the four Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
