Adam Best and Ken Drury Join the West End Thriller The Woman in Black

London stage veterans Adam Best and Ken Drury will join the cast of West End thriller The Woman in Black as The Actor and Arthur Kipps, respectively. They will play their first performance in the Robin Herford-helmed piece, now in its 23rd year at the Fortune Theatre, on July 3.

The story of The Woman in Black, told in flashback, centers on a young man named Arthur Kipps who is sent to a deceased woman's house to learn more about her so her affairs can be settled. While there, he encounters a mysterious Woman in Black, and years later is still terrorized by his experiences in the house.

Best’s theater credits include Our Country’s Good, The Golden Dragon, Fairy Tale in New York, Journey’s End and By The Bog Of Cats. His TV and film credits include Silent Witness, Waking the Dead, Holby City and The Catherine Tate Show. Drury’s stage credits include King Lear, The Mysteries, The CrucibleMacbeth, All My Sons and Mutiny.

The Woman in Black is based on a 1983 book by Susan Hill and was turned into a made for TV movie and the subsequent long-running play. A film adaptation starring How to Succeed and Harry Potter alum Daniel Radcliffe as Arthur Kipps, was released in 2012. It became the highest-grossing British horror film ever, raking in more than $100 million worldwide.
