Royal Court Confirms Casting for Next Two Plays
Anna Madeley, late of the National Theatre's Coram Boy, will join Julia Davis in the new Mike Bartlett play, Contractions, opening June 4 in a unique space within the Royal Court Theatre. Bartlett and director Lyndsey Turner will be holding the production in one of the backstage rooms, accommodating no more than 30 people. The play runs 40 minutes, or roughly the same length as Bartlett's My Child, which was a sensation at the Court last year; the production starts previews May 29 and runs through June 14.
Meanwhile, in the Court's Theatre Upstairs, writer/director Anthony Neilson will open his new play, Relocated, on June 13, following previews from June 6. The cast consists of Jan Pearson, Stuart McQuarrie, Frances Grey and Nicola Walker. That show plays through July 5.
