Hollyoaks star Summer Strallen is set to replace Connie Fisher as Maria in the West End’s hit revival of
The Sound of Music. The soap star/stage veteran will play the role beginning on 26 February at the London Palladium.
Strallen’s stage credits include The Drowsy Chaperone, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Boyfriend and Guys and Dolls.
The Sound of Music features music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, with a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse, suggested by The Trapp Family Singers by Maria Augusta Trapp. This production, directed by Jeremy Sams, currently features Fisher as Maria, Aoife Mulholland as Maria at certain performances, Margaret Preece as Mother Abbess and Simon Burke as Captain von Trapp.
