Never Forget, the musical featuring the songs of Take That, will begin performances in London at the Savoy Theatre on 7 May, 2008. The opening is set for 21 May.
The show is a feel-good comedy about love, friendship, ambition and betrayal. With an original story written by Danny Brocklehurst (Shameless, Sorted, Clocking Off) , Guy Jones and Ed Curtis, Never Forget is about the unlikeliest of Take That tribute bands. Set in Manchester, the tuner follows the rollercoaster journey of young hero Ash and his best mates in the pursuit of their dreams. Packed with Take That songs, the show includes the hits “Relight My Fire,” “Pray,” “Back For Good,” “Babe” and, of course, “Never Forget.”
The creative team is headed by director Ed Curtis and Olivier award-winning choreographer Karen Bruce. Curtis’ credits Marlon Brando’s Corset at the Edinburgh Fringe and on national tour and Conspiracy at the Festival, which was nominated for a Perrier Award in 2005. Bruce won an Olivier Award for her work on the Donmar’s production of Pacific Overtures and is director and choreographer of the West-End’s Fame and Footloose. Never Forget features set design by Bob Bailey (The Way Home, The New Statesman, Anything Goes), costume design by Christopher Woods (Songs My Mother Taught Me, Daddy Cool, Cooper! Jus’ Like That. Jesus My Boy) and lighting design by James Whiteside.
The musical played a national tour last summer that included Cardiff, Manchester, Stoke, Glasgow and Edinburgh and was recorded live at the Manchester Opera House by Universal Music scheduled for DVD release on 12 November.
