Louise Gold and Diane Langton are joining the cast of Mary Poppins. The West End regulars will begin performances on 10 April.
Gold and Langton will replace original cast members Rosemary Ashe and Julia Sutton, respectively, as Miss Andrew and Birdwoman. Gold;s theatre credit include the West End production of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the revival of Noises Off. She also provided the voices for The Queen, Princess Diana and Nancy Reagan in TV’s satirical puppet show Spitting Image. Langton, who has appeared as Mama Morton in Chicago, was in the London casts of A Chorus Line, I’m Getting My Act Together and Taking it on the Road.
The cast of Mary Poppins, which was co-directed by Richard Eyre and Matthew Bourne, continues to star Scarlett Strallen as Mary Poppins, Gavin Lee as Bert, Aden Gillett as George Banks and Eliza Lumley as Winifred Banks.
