THEATRELAND WALK AND THEATRE TEA
Theatre expert Paul Ibell takes you on a tour of Theatreland followed by afternoon tea at the Savoy.
The Savoy has a long and glamorous theatrical history: built next to the Savoy Theatre and financed by the profits from Gilbert and Sullivan operas, it is also a short distance from the The Royal Opera House, the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, and all Covent Garden's theatre land. Join playwright, author and theatre specialist Paul Ibell on a walking tour around the most historic parts of Covent Garden and hear anecdotes and entertaining information about the playhouses and personalities who made the area such a theatrical powerhouse. The stories start from the days of King Charles II and Nell Gwynne and follow through to the latest performances in the theatres you will be visiting. The Savoy Theatre Land Tour begins at 4.45pm at The Savoy and lasts about one and a quarter hours. On your return you are greeted by a glass of Laurent-Perrier champagne and The Savoy's popular Theatre Tea.
