The 'Sherlock' star will appear in a production of Shakespeare’s classic directed by Lyndsey Turner.

Whether Benedict Cumberbatch’s Hamlet was to be or not to be has been a big question for those of us who partake in the #Cumberwatch. However, it’s finally happening. According to the Daily Mail, the Sherlock star will appear in a production of Shakespeare’s classic from August 2015 at London’s Barbican Theatre. Directed by Lyndsey Turner, it will be for a three-month limited engagement, with the expected dates to be August 5 through October 31.

There had been rumors that Cumberbatch would appear as the sweet prince this year, but there were timing issues.

Cumberbatch of course, is not just a detective that wins everyone's hearts, or a major movie star with huge buzz around his upcoming turn as Alan Turing in The Imitation Game and credits in films such as 12 Years A Slave, August: Osage County and Star Trek: Into Darkness. He’s also a bona fide stage star. For his performance in the National Theatre’s 2011 production of Frankenstein, Cumberbatch won the “Triple Crown of London Theatre:” the Olivier Award, Evening Standard Award and Critics’ Circle Theatre Award for Best Actor. He has also appeared in productions of Hedda Gabler and After the Dance.
